It sounds rather bizarre to think that we citizens might have an oath of our own. Because we’re a republic, it would be frightening to require an oath. However, voluntary commitment and active participation in our government is absolutely crucial to our collective future.
Doesn’t it make sense to renew our commitment and participation at the local level?
Maybe that is what our country need at this unsettling time. The problem is that the Oath of Citizenship (or the Oath of Allegiance) requires a test be taken and I don’t believe the majority of people in the United States would pass the test…
